It’s worth visiting because it has a lot of temples and the architecture is really interesting. The food is also amazing, You should stay for at least 3 days to see everything that Luang Prabang has to offer. There are so many things you can do while you’re there, like hiking or biking around the city. Plus, it’s not too far from Thailand if you want to take a day trip over there as well.

This is probably one of the most famous sights in Laos (morning in Luang Prabang), and I’d definitely recommend going out for it at least once. This tradition has been around for centuries but now that tourism is on the rise, people are very eager to sell you the alms baskets and so on. This makes the atmosphere a bit more commercial than it would be otherwise, but it’s still a pretty unique experience to witness. Even though I went twice, I did not want to photograph any monks for fear of disrupting their meditation. It’s better if you just watch them in silence, if possible. The ceremony starts as early as 5:30am

Luang Prabang’s got lots of good coffee shops, but one of the most unique is Fish Tail Cafe — a cafe housed in an old wooden house right by Wat Xieng Thong, perched on stilts overlooking a canal and surrounded by trees.

Luang Prabang is a small city in northern Laos, at the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers. It’s known for its numerous Buddhist temples, including gilded Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, and Wat Wisunarat, dating to the 16th century. The hilltop Wat Chom Si temple affords sweeping city views, while Phou Si hill provides panoramas of the city and river.

Located approximately 29 kilometres south of Luang Prabang, Kuang Si Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Laos. The multi-tiered waterfall cascades down limestone formations into numerous turquoise pools. It’s a popular day trip from Luang Prabang, as it’s fairly easy to reach by road and tuk-tuk.

A trip to the Pak Ou Caves, located just 25 kilometres upstream from Luang Prabang, is one of the most popular day trips in Laos. These caves are filled with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues left by pilgrims over the centuries. The caves are an important pilgrimage site for Lao people, who make the trip by boat to pray and leave Buddha images inside the caves.

Visiting Living Land Farm in Luang Prabang is a great way to spend a few hours in the city. After our visit, we were able to pick up some ingredients for the tapioca snacks that we enjoyed watching being made on the farm tour. We had been introduced to these snacks during our visit to Xieng Khuan Buddha Park and bought ingredients to make them at home.
